This week CalFire Unit welcomed back two of our aerial firefighting assets to the Sonoma Air Attack Base. Airtanker 86, a Grumman S-2T airtanker that can hold up to 1,200 gallons of fire retardant, and Air Attack 120, a North American OV-10A (& 1 D Model) Bronco Air Tactical Aircraft, are now back in service covering the greater Bay Area. VCFD has taken delivery of 4 new BME Model 34 Type 3 Brush Engines. Based on the CalFire BME specification, the VCFD Model 34 operates on a 4x4 International Chassis, powered by a Cummins L9 Engine with a 5 Speed Allison Transmission. Each engine has a PTO driven 500 GMP 2-stage Waterous CPK-3 Fire Pump, capable of by pump and roll operations.
