Birdsong Landscapes on Instagram: "John Leonard Riddell visited Huffman Prairie in 1834 and described five species from there in his 1834 publication “A Synopsis of the Flora of the Western States. ” A herbarium specimen of Riddell’s goldenrod (Solidago riddellii) collected at Huffman Prairie became one of two accepted as the first documentation of this species. Riddell’s notation confirms his collection location as “Hoffman’s Prairie, 8 miles E. from Dayton.” Another new Huffman Prairie species
