SPOKANE — Embattled state crime lab scientist Arnold Melnikoff, accused of shoddy work, on Tuesday finally got a chance to say why he should not be fired by the Washington State Patrol.

The Catholic Diocese of Great Falls and Billings has agreed to pay a former associate pastor at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral in Billings $35,000 to settle a complaint of sexual discrimination.
